Professor Matt Leamy is a distinguished member of Whiskey University, bringing a wealth of expertise and passion to the world of spirits. Since joining Whiskey University in May 2023, Matt has left an indelible mark on the institution, earning accolades and recognition for his dedication to the craft.
Born in Portland, Oregon, in February 1980, Matt's odyssey into the world of whiskey began with a deep curiosity about how spirits are made. After completing his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Savannah, Georgia, Matt returned to his roots in Troutdale, Oregon, where he now resides as the proud owner of Leamy Printing & Design.
Matt's journey at Whiskey University has been marked by remarkable achievements and milestones. In July 2023, he earned his Bourbon Diploma, paving the way for a series of accomplishments that would solidify his place as a leader in the field. With determination and dedication, Matt earned his Associate’s Degree in August 2023, followed by his Bachelor of Science Degree in October 2023, where he was bestowed the title of "Certified Master Bourbon Taster" and achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant in the Bourbon Brigade.
A trailblazer in his own right, Matt was among the first students to earn his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Craft Whiskies in November 2023. This achievement was accompanied by the prestigious title of “Certified Master Whiskey Taster” and the rank of Captain in the Bourbon Brigade. Matt's passion for teaching and sharing his knowledge led him to teach his inaugural class in January 2024, along with writing his first class - Northwest Whiskies.
Continuing his pursuit of excellence, Matt achieved his Master of Science Degree with a double major in Craft Whiskey and World Whiskey in January 2024. This milestone propelled him to the esteemed position of "Chartered Master Bourbon Taster" and the rank of Major in the Bourbon Brigade.
In his most recent endeavor, Matt earned his Master of Arts Degree with a double major in Tennessee Whiskey Region and World Whiskey in March 2024. His dedication and expertise culminated in the title of "Chartered Master Whiskey Taster" and the rank of Lt. Colonel in the Bourbon Brigade.
